The Break - with Michael Gardon

Jul 20, 2020

“Don’t think of it as “I’m trying to find a job,” think of it as “I’m trying to make friends”” - Ramon Santillan

Ramon Santillan got his start as a tax consultant working for some of the largest companies in the world. From there he founded Persuasive Interview, a one-on-one job coaching service that breaks down the process into five steps, the last of which is accepting a job offer.

Ramon has been featured on numerous media outlets that include Yahoo! and CBS, he reads about a book a week (which he discusses in the interview), and is a graduate of University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business.

Ramon’s specialty is working with recent graduates, and young professionals, but he has also carved out a niche working with people with aspergers and autism helping them get jobs at companies like Google, Diebold, and GE.

In the interview Ramon breaks down the entire job searching process and what you can do to separate yourself at the very start of it. He challenges the definition of experience, and explains why most people sell themselves short when they think about how much experience they actually have. He explores creative ways to go about contacting companies you’re interested in applying to, and explains why you need to be comfortable bragging about yourself in a job interview.

All in all this is a great interview for job seekers. It will give you the confidence you need to really go after the positions that you desire.
